A Chicago summer staple and a must do for anyone new to the city! The tour is a 75min journey on the Chicago River, right through the heart of downtown. While you will learn some fun facts about Chicago’s unique architecture, you’re really there for the views and the cash bar!
We highly recommend booking tickets for this tour in advance.
Swing over to Millennium Park, the home of Chicago’s famous Bean. After braving the tourists for your selfie on the Bean’s shiny exterior, head over to Cindy’s for unbeatable views of the park and the lake. Cindy’s is located in the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel. Reservations are recommended for food, but we suggest just grabbing a drink at the bar and then bringing it outside to the balcony!
The Riverwalk is a great place to go for a stroll, people watch, or grab a drink. Some of our favorite bars are:
- Tiny Tapp
- City Winery Riverwalk
- Island Tiki Hut
Try to grab a table or just sit on the steps enjoying your drink and watching the boats go by!
If you're near the hotel and looking for a meal with a large group without a reservation, we recommend stopping by Parlor Pizza. They are usually good at seating larger groups and the pizza is good!
Home of the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field is the oldest stadium in the National League and the second-oldest stadium in the MLB. Unfortunately, the Cubs will not be in town during our wedding weekend, but tours are available of the stadium for anyone interested. Following the tour, we recommend visiting some of the many (many, many) bars in the Wrigleyville neighborhood. Slugger's, across the street, is one of our favorites and even has batting cages.
We recommend buying tour tickets in advance for Wrigley Field.
The Lincoln Pack Zoo is a beautiful park & zoo on the lake, with a perfect skyline view. Since it’s so close to our house, we love to go for walks here and stop to see some animals. The best part – entry is free! Just jump in an uber – it’s a ten minute drive from the Westin.
A 10 minute drive away to Chicago's trendy West Loop, Time Out Market is a food hall that hosts the best of the city's food. There is also a full bar and a rooftop. When you're done, head over to Federale's for a margarita!
